Overview

Pharmacology is one of the most important and integral branch of Pharmacy. It is the only branch of pharmacy which is included in the curriculum of other health science programmes as well. The Department of Pharmacology is at the forefront of research into the effects of drugs and other molecules on biological systems with a view to understanding the mechanisms of the human body. Pharmacology clearly has two divisions namely Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. Pharmacokinetics is the study about changes occurred to the drug in the body, and Pharmacodynamics, the study about the changes the drug produced in the body. The subjects that are covered by this department include human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology.

The department of Pharmacology provides a pathway to a career in Pharmacology, Toxicology or Drug Research, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and other Health Industries. Further they are trained on Pre-clinical and Clinical trials, also on Animal toxicological studies which provide the students with a great insight on the drug development process. Laboratories of pharmacology have the facilities to train the students in all practical and theoretical aspects of pharmacology individually.
